When couples hear the words semi-custom wedding invitations, they sometimes assume the experience will feel limited or impersonal. Choose a design, change the names, place the order, done.
That is not how I approach semi-custom stationery at Rosebud Calligraphy & Design.
My invitation collections are simply the starting point! Couples still work directly with me throughout the process to make thoughtful design choices, personalize the details, and create a suite that feels connected to their wedding.
For couples who already have a sense of what they love, are working with a slightly shorter timeline, or simply want to be intentional about where they invest, semi-custom can offer the best of both worlds… a beautifully designed foundation with plenty of room to make it your own.

A semi-custom wedding invitation begins with an existing design from one of my collections rather than starting with a completely blank page.
That gives us a strong design foundation and a more streamlined process but it does not mean every couple receives the exact same invitation.
Once you choose the collection that feels most like you, we start refining the details together.
Depending on the design, that can include:
You still have someone guiding you through those decisions and helping make sure everything works together visually.
This is probably the most important distinction!!
Semi-custom does not mean you are left alone to make every design decision yourself.
You still work directly with me throughout the process. I will offer feedback when two fonts are competing with each other, suggest a color adjustment when something feels slightly off, help you decide where an embellishment adds impact and talk you through the choices that make sense for your particular wedding.
Sometimes the best design decision is adding something.
Sometimes it is knowing when to stop ◡̈
That guidance is part of the experience.
One of the best ways to understand semi-custom is to see how much a single collection can change from couple to couple.
Take my Simply Elegant suite, for example. The overall structure stays the same, but the feeling can shift dramatically depending on the choices we make together.
A softer palette and classic typography can make it feel timeless and understated. A bolder color story, a different font pairing or details like a wax seal, belly band or envelope liner can take that exact same design in a completely different direction.
This is where semi-custom gets fun. These are all versions of the same Simply Elegant suite… but each one feels completely different once we start playing with color, type and finishing details.

Semi-custom is especially helpful for couples who:
It can also be a wonderful option for couples who feel overwhelmed by endless choices.
Instead of beginning with an empty page, you begin with something you already love and refine it from there.
For a lot of couples, semi-custom is the sweet spot.
They want a beautiful, elevated invitation suite and they want guidance throughout the process, but they may not need a fully custom design from the ground up.
Sometimes they already know what they like and want a more streamlined path. Sometimes they are working with a shorter timeline. Sometimes they are simply being intentional about where they invest while still wanting the experience of working with a designer.
That is what makes semi-custom such a strong option. It still feels personal, collaborative, and thoughtfully designed. We are just starting with a collection instead of a blank page.
In the end, the goal is the same: a suite that fits the wedding, reflects the couple, and feels polished from start to finish.
